Outdoor Learning

At Lark Hill  we engage in outdoor learning so our children grow and develop diverse skills in a new environment. Our school staff take selected pupils on a weekly basis to a local woodland to take part in the programme.

Our programmes have been carefully developed in partnership with outdoor learning professionals to be enjoyable and to enable our children to develop internal qualities such as:
Perseverance and Resilience
Confidence and a "can do" attitude
Emotional Intelligence
Tolerance and Respect for others
Respect for our community and world

Where The Wild Things Are!

A therapeutic intervention aimed to get EYFS and KS1 children exploring the outdoors - it's a fun workshop you don't want to miss! The key principles of WTWTA involve developing children's communication, speech and language skills as well as self confidence and social skills. The programme enhances children's relationships with one another, developing respect for others and the environment around them. It encourages independence and team work, ensuring children take responsibility for their own actions, and encourage others to nurture what is around them.

 

Wild Tribe

Year 3 children may participate in Wild Tribe, a small, outdoor, therapeutic and developmental intervention.
The programme develops children’s sense of personal safety, security and self confidence. The programme also concentrates on developing respect for self, others and the environment through an understanding of children’s responsibilities to others and the world around us.

Forest Crew

Year 5 participate in Forest Crew, where children undertake group challenges and tasks.
Forest Crew encourages children to think about their relationships and develops important social skills, teamwork and problem solving. These skills can then be transferred back into everyday lives and the classroom.
