Personal Social Emotional Health Education
Personal, Social and Health Education
This page is under construction.
At Lark Hill, we have always taught PSHE (Personal, Social & Health Education) using Jigsaw as the programme links perfectly with our values and, as you know, these are embedded throughout our school.
Recently, the Department for Education (DfE) have changed the legislation and these changes relate to what we teach the children about Relationships and Health, which we plan to cover as part of PSHE. Originally, these changes had to be implemented by September 2020, allowing us the summer term to work in collaboration with the whole school community to ensure all statutory duties were fulfilled and staff, parents and carers were clear on the revised PSHE curriculum. In light of current events, the DfE have now been postponed the changes until the summer of 2021, meaning parent/carer consultation will take place during the Autumn term.
To support our delivery of a PSHE curriculum which encompasses the new requirements regarding Relationships and Health Education (RHE) we will continue to use the Jigsaw programme throughout school. Staff and children are all familiar with the Jigsaw programme, and we feel it is comprehensive and includes a wealth of quality resources. Lessons will take place once per week and will last up to 30 minutes (depending on the age of the children).
More information will continue to be added to the website, but in the meantime, feel free to browse the Jigsaw and DFE resources to find out a little more.
