Lower KS2 Home Learning
As a school, we are aware that many of our families are currently following the government's advice and self-isolating. From Monday, the school will be closed to many children as part of the government's planned response to the current situation. To support you with continuing your child's learning over this period, please see below a number of useful apps and websites you can access to support your child.
We will be updating this webpage with new ideas over this period, so please do check in to see what new materials and resources we have made available.
Thank you for your ongoing support with your child's education. Take care of each other and hope to see you all again soon.
Weekly maths lessons online!
At school we follow the small steps of progress published by White Rose Maths.
They are producing home learning links. These include videos to explain learning and worksheets that can be downloaded to complete with answer sheets to help mark them.
Please check back each week to see what your child would have been learning if they were in school as these will be updated regularly.
We are using the EPIC website or app to give children access to a huge number of books online. It includes comics, read-to-me titles, audiobooks and books to read independently from a vast range of topics and genres. The children in Year 4 have described it as being like Netflix for books - there are even educational videos on there too!
All parents should have been sent the code to log your child into their class account by email. If you did not receive the email, can you please notify the office so they can check the email address we have on file for you is correct? The classroom account is only available between 6am and 4pm. During the current international situation, with so many schools closed or planning for closures, the app as provided free unlimited access until the end of the academic year. This includes weekends and evenings. If you would like to have parental access to this, and to unlock the account so that it is available weekends and evenings, please email the office with permission to share your email address with the app.
Get reading and let's see which class can read the most books!
4W have a head start but I wonder if anyone can catch them up!?
To log in simply visit the webpage https://www.getepic.com/students
Enter the class code
Select your name and get Epic!
IXL LEARNING - English and Maths
In the past, we have used IXL to support maths at home. Children will have full access to the website for the next 90 days.
Please support your child in working through the maths and English objectives within their year group. Moving forward, we will be letting you know on this page what the focus for the week would have been in normal teaching so you can mirror this at home where appropriate.
Usernames and passwords will be sent by email as school closes.
Look for the last rule you learnt in school and just keep playing until you know all the Year 3 and 4 words and rules! We don't subscribe to this site, so you'll need to play the free games - sorry!
Usernames and Passwords
We have had a lot of requests for password resets from TTRockstars across school. To make this easier for parents, we have changed all passwords and usernames to a common format. Your child's username will be their first name and initial of second name with a capital letter for both. The password will be their year group
eg JohnS year3
We will also be sending these by email as school closes.
To support our children in developing the level of number fluency they need to be able to be best prepared for an Upper Key Stage 2 curriculum, we subscribe to the website ttrockstars. This is a great way for your child to practice their multiplication and division facts. All children should have a log in stuck into their reading records and have should have accessed the website in school before to know how to use it.
Try to practice little and often - short blasts of learning everyday are better than one mega blast once a week in retaining and recalling these key facts.
The school access to share projects will be sent home tomorrow.
In year 4, we have just began to experiment and "tinker" with computer programming using the Scratch website.
Children can create their own projects with or without an account. If they wish to save and share their creations, they will need an account, which you can quickly and easily set up for them for free with an email address.
The best way to learn is to play around and experiment. We'd love to see your creations when you have completed them so please do share them with us.
